She was born November 3, 1918, in Berne, Indiana, to Albert and Ester (Bixler) Winteregg.
Winifred graduated from Berne High School. She then went on to graduate from cosmetology school in 1957; she opened and operated Winnie's Beauty Shop out of her home in Waterloo for many years.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Waterloo.
Winnie was an active supporter of the Waterloo VFW, a dedicated volunteer at the Auburn Curiosity Shop and an avid Bingo player.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, George W. Charleston and Keith H. Baker; her sister, Mary Alice Conrad Newell; And her Children, Jon Charleston, Margaret Baker, Kathy Martin and Sherman Baker.
She is survived by her children, Georgia (Charleston) Holmes of Rome City, Robert Charleston of Fort Wayne, Charles Kim Charleston of Fort Wayne, Sue (Charleston) and John Dziamara of Annandale, New Jersey, MaryLou (Charleston) and Tom Chronister of Rome City, and Bradley and Pam Baker of Magnolia, Texas; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1098 C.R. 39, Waterloo
