Clayton was born on February 3, 1923 in Yancey County and was the son of the late Cas and Ella Roberts Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a brother; S.F. Thomas and brother in laws; Glen Pendle and Jimmy Smith. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Also, he was the owner/operator of Clayton Thomas Siding Company.

Ricky Ray officiating. Entombment will follow in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
