Margaret Lavon Hersey Burch, 73, died Tuesday morning (July 29, 2014) at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, FL following a brief illness. Lavon was a native of Gainesville, FL, a former resident of Ware County, but had made her home in Coffee County for the past 35 years.

She was the daughter of the late Idus "Ike" Hersey and Beatrice Sears Hersey. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jake Boyd Hall, a sister Geraldine White, and a brother Michael Hersey. She was a 1959 graduate of Ware County High School, and the former owner operator of the Plunder Shop in Douglas. She loved to sing and was gifted with a naturally beautiful singing voice.

Survivors include two daughters, Traci Abel of Blackshear and Amy Simmons (husband Johnny) of Millwood, a son, Jon Hall of Jesup, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 sisters Glenda Carter (husband Carl) of Ooltewah, TN, Martha Sue Bargeron (husband Rodney) of Cocoa Beach, FL and Mary Simpson (husband Lynn) of Blackshear and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday (August 2, 2014) at Roxie Mae Cemetery in Coffee County. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at Music Funeral Home.
