Herman Hanson was born on May 13, 1931 in Girard Township, rural Battle Lake, Minnesota. His parents were the late Julius and Lula (Kimber) Hanson. Herman grew up on the family farm in Girard Township. On April 21, 1952, Herman was united in marriage to Bernice Juvrud at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children. Herman and Bernice made their home in Girard Township where Herman farmed. In the late 1950’s, Herman and Bernice made their home in Inman Township where Herman continued to farm and was also employed with Volden Construction before retiring in 1994. Herman continued to farm before making their home in Henning in 1999. Herman enjoyed welding, which was a specialty of his, wood working, and deer hunting.

Preceding Herman in death were his parents; son: Leroy Hanson; grand-daughter: Mindy Kohl; brothers: Julian “Sonny”, Anton “Tony”, and Howard Hanson.

Herman is survived by his wife Bernice Hanson; daughters: Kathy (Russell) Saurer of Henning; Linda (Fred) Kohl of Henning; Lois Meier of Pelican Rapids; Debbie (Tom) O’Dea of Bluffton; son: Steven Hanson of Henning; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother: Harry (Audrey) Hanson of Henning; sister-in-law: Virginia Hanson of Henning; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Service:
Tuesday June 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning
Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at church

Visitation:
Monday June 16, 2014, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning
A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
