Steven Daniel Bruce, born October 10, 1953 went on his final ride in Hereford, South Dakota on July 27, 2014. Dan was born in Colorado Springs to Jim and Ardith Bruce on October 10, 1953. Dan spent his childhood years in Fountain, Colorado going to rodeos with his mom and hunting and fishing with his dad. Dan graduated from Fountain Fort Carson High School in 1971 where he was an avid wrestler.
Dan was married in 1973 to Dianna Flores and had a daughter Amber. Dan later married Patty Spencer in 1981 and had a son Spencer. Dan spent a lot of his years driving horses all over the country for Nation Wide Horse Transportation and loved to see the country side. Dan loved riding colts, shoeing horses, and training horses in the Ray Hunt Natural Horsemanship method. He was a self-employed man with many talents. Later in life he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son Spencer and grandchildren Jaycie and Easton West. Dan had a great love for his country and his flag.
He was preceded in death by his father Jim Bruce.
He is survived by his mother Ardith Bruce, of Fountain, Colorado; daughter : Amber Bruce West (Zach) of Hereford, SD. Son: Spencer Bruce of Elizabeth, Colorado, his sisters Debbie Thompson of Gordon, NE and Diane Knapp of Fountain, Colorado; two grandchildren Jaycie and Easton West of Hereford, SD and Special Friend Nicole Ellis and her son Ryan Ellis. He was also survived by his horses Junior, Mustang Grey and beloved dog Missy.
Services will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Hanover School, 1700 S. Peyton Hwy with the interment at the Wilson Cemetery to follow.
