JOHN WEBSTER OVERBY, 87, of Huntington, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2003. Funeral service will be Saturday at noon at the Reger Funeral Chapel conducted by Evangelist Paul R. Rice Jr. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. He was born on August 17, 1915, in Cabell County, W.Va. the son of the late John S. and Olivia Norris Overby. He was a retired foreman with 38 years of service for Owens-Illinois Glass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Cole Overby in 1986; one grandson, John Stanley Coates in 1990; four sisters, Virgie M. Grubb, Alma Flowers, Edna Rutherford and Jessie Hoffman. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Stanley Coates of Proctorville, Ohio; a granddaughter and her husband, Vickie and Mark Trumbo of Huntington; two great-grandsons, Stephen and Michael Trumbo, both of Huntington; two sisters, Alah Arrington of Huntington and Norma Rutherford of Patriot, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Sharon Scarberry; a special friend, Wilford Henson and his many friends and acquaintances from Shoney's, and more recently, Golden Corral. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Home.
