(referring to when Inon and Agnes Karr were just married).

When they returned to De Queen, Agnes' parents, David E and Bettie Karr, had a big dinner prepared and afterward the newlyweds went to visit Jess and Rilla Ferguson, and Clarence "C.D." Clements, Inon's step-father, his mother, and his brother..

In 1909, the Clements family was traveling by wagon from Waldron, Arkansas and were camped near Lamar, Oklahoma, where a group of ruffians were also camped. Inon's father, James Lewis, asked them not to use foul language because there were women folk present. One of the ruffians hit him on the head with a beast yoke and he never recovered, dying a few months later. .

Rilla (Ward) Clements, Inon's mother, was left with 10 children;.
