On April 5, 1942, he married Rosemary Kramer. They lived their entire married life in Three Oaks, raising their children and operating their store, Downtown Drugs, which they owned from June 1954 until June 1984.

"Three Oaks Pharmacist Dead At 63
THREE OAKS -- Milburn E. (Mick) Heckathorn, 63, of South Elm Street, Three Oaks, died this morning at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete this forenoon at the Connelly-Noble Funeral Home, Three Oaks. Memorials may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ, Three Oaks or the Berrien County Cancer Service.

Mr. Heckathorn was born June 30, 1919, in Galien. He was a registered pharmacist and owned and operated the Downtown Drug in Three Oaks for the past 30 years, before selling it this year. He was a World War II Air Corps veteran, and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Three Oaks. He was a member of the National Association of Retail Druggists; American Pharmaceutical Association and the Michigan Pharmacists Association. He also belonged to the Randall Couchman Post 204, American Legion, Three Oaks.

Survivors include : his wife, the former Rosemary Kramer; a son, Michael of Harbert; a daughter, Linda Carroll of Jensen Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two brothers Harold of Three Oaks and Louis of Sawyer." The Herald-Palladium, June 20, 1984, page 14
