Otis Jackson, Jr., 90, formerly of Alanson, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 in Corbin, KY.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm, Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Lintz Funeral Home in Indian River. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until 2:00pm on Thursday. Interment will be at Ohioville Cemetery in Indian River.
Otis was born October 2, 1923 in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the son of Otis and Gelannie (Miracle) Jackson, Sr. He grew up in Kentucky. On November 1, 1943 Otis married Eunice Blakley in Chevrolet, KY. In 1953 the Jackson family moved to Pontiac, MI. Otis was employed at the GM Truck & Bus Plant in Pontiac for thirty years, retiring in 1983. At that time Otis and Eunice moved to their home in Alanson. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Otis enjoyed hunting and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of the past fourteen years, Betty; children, John (Sherry) Jackson of Vanderbilt, MI, Ray (Patricia) Jackson of Owensboro, KY, Brenda (Bob) Whary of Halifax, PA, Joyce (Tom) Prater of Naubinway, MI, Don Jackson of Indian River, Bonnie (Tom) Grech of Oxford, MI, Bernice (Don) Floer of Hillman, MI, Warren (Sandy) Jackson of LaFollette, TN, 25 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; siblings, Robert, George, Earl Rhymer all of KY, Ettalene Bailey of KY.
Besides his wife, Eunice, Otis was preceded in death by his children, Orville Jackson, Vernon Jackson and Hazel Huffman; four grandchildren, Leslie Otis Jackson, Belinda Lee Huffman, George Platt and Shaun Prater; seven siblings.
