Found in The State 12 November 1923: Eustace M. Bollin, deputy clerk of court for Richland county, died last night at 11 o'clock at the Columbia hospital after a few days' illness. Mr. Bollin became ill Friday morning and went immediately to the Columbia hospital. Yesterday morning between 4 and 5 o'clock, he had a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Bollin had been deputy clerk of court for about ten years, except for the short time he served as clerk to fill out the unexpired term of the late J. Frost Walker, being appointed clerk by ex Gov. Robert A. Cooper. The deputy clerk was born in Columbia about 63 years ago. He was formerly connected with a bank in Greenville, and for a time was in the insurance business with his half brother, the late J. H. Bollin, of Columbia. He returned to Columbia about 12 years ago to make it his home. Mr. Bollin was a man with a pleasing personality and had hundreds of friends throughout this state. He was faithful to his trust as an officer of the county, and was always courteous and kind in his dealings with the public. His death will bring sorrow to a host of friends, including the Richland officers and lawyers, with whom he was constantly associated. During his last stay in Columbia, Mr. Bollin resided at the City Y. M. C. A. He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic church, and also of Bishop England council, Knights of Columbus. Mr. Bollin is survived by one sister, Miss A. M. Bollin of Columbia; two half sisters, Mrs. L. B. McGregor, mother of Dr. Eugene C. McGregor of McGregor's Drug store, and Mrs. W. J. McGraw of Charleston.
