Wiley A. Gammon, Sr., age 86, of Stone Mountain, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Rev. Charles Barnes and Rev. Charles Robinson officiating.

A native of Mt. Zion in Carroll County, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Following WWII, he entered the U.S. Army where he later retired as a Colonel after service in Korea and Germany. Mr. Gammon was employed with Southern Bell for 37 1/2 years, retiring as an area manager in 1983. He was President of the Reserve Officer's Association in Atlanta, Past President of the Dogwood Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church in Stone Mountain.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn L. Gammon of Stone Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Wiley and Linda Gammon, Jr. of Lilburn; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Steve Gammon of Acworth; grandchildren, Wiley Gammon, III and his wife Ashley, Christopher Gammon, Patrick McCorkle and his wife Angela, and Christina Monsrud and her husband Justin; great grandchildren, Kierstin Spruell-McCorkle, Amelia Gammon and Faith McCorkle.
