Elnora Jones, 92, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Greenleaf Senior Living, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 501 Minnesota Ave. NW, Bemidji, MN with Rev. Lou Ellen Hartley officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday at the church.
Elnora Marie Klaahsen was born on February 19, 1920 on the family farm in Lyon County, George, IA the youngest of eight children born to Klaas F. “K.F.” and Elizabeth (Krueger) Klaahsen. She attended country school through the eighth grade.
Following her school years, Elnora helped her oldest sister, Ollie with her family and in 1938 Elnora moved to Blackduck, MN to help her sister, Dena with her family.
On August 1, 1945, Elnora was united in marriage to William H. Jones in Hines, MN. The couple made their home in Blackduck, MN and to this union a lovely daughter, Elaine was born. Elnora was a homemaker and didn’t work out of the home until 1972 when she went to work as a janitor at Bemidji State University. In 1985, she retired at the age of 65 and stayed home to care for her husband, William who died in March of 1985.
Elnora was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bemidji, MN where she enjoyed volunteering with the Ladies Aide and was a member of the Ralph Gracie American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed working with her vegetable and flower garden, canning, baking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Lendobeja of Thief River Falls, MN; grandson, Jeff (Chandra) Lendobeja of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Raianna, Nehemiah, Hailey, Emma & Cole; sister-in-law, Alberta Shingler of Blackduck, MN; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; granddaughter, Laurie; and siblings, Ollie (John), John (Anna), Fred (Grace), Lillian (Henry), Louis (Angeline), Dena (Clarence & Leo), Bertha Mae (Albert); and brothers-in-law, John Shingler, Jr. and Donald Jones.
