He was born near Nashville, Tennessee to Aaron and Belina (McCullough) Lee. He married Melissa "Maxwell" Lee on July 15, 1866 in Bradley County, Tennessee. They farmed there until around 1874 when they moved to Denton County, Texas. They farmed there until after 1886 when they moved to Spokane, WA. They had 12 children. His wife, Melissa, died there in 1907. He is in the family plot with Melissa but does not have his own marker although he is named on Melissa's marker.
