Roger L. Garner, 78, of Huntingdon, where he had resided since 1974, died July 26, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born August 24, 1935 in Roaring Spring, PA, he was a son of the late Samuel F. and Margaret K. (Hileman) Garner. He was united in marriage to the former Carol Benner on August 20, 1955, at Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Garner survives at their Walker Township residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Roger Douglas Garner of Huntingdon; three grandsons, Adam D. Garner, Alexander T. Garner and his wife, Krista (Grove) Garner, and Andrew J. Garner, all of Huntingdon; and two great-grandchildren, Kyler and Aubrey Garner. He is also survived by a sister, Pamela (Garner) McVicker of Concord, NC. Mr. Garner purchased the former Madden Auto Sales in Mount Union and began Rog Garner Chevrolet Oldsmobile, making him the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the United States at the time. In April, 1983 the dealership moved to Huntingdon and would operate as Rog Garner Chevrolet Buick Cadillac until its transfer of ownership to Team Chevrolet in January, 2000. There, Mr. Garner continued as a consultant for one year until his retirement in 2001. From 2001 until his death, Mr. Garner was a salesman for Mark Advertising.
