Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, who served during World War II and the Korean War. He had been employed by the GE Co. for 23 years, prior to his retirement. He had also previously been employed by the PA Railroad in Altoona for 23 years.
In addition to his wife Betty L. Shade (married 53 years), he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel S. Shade; one brother, Budd Shade; and five sisters, Florence Krutz, Dorothy Geist, Eleanor Snowberger, Emily Harris, and Leona Parks.
Surviving are one son, William L. Shade and his wife, Deborah; and one daughter, Kay Ann Lockwood and her husband, Ronald, all of Erie; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors.
