"At the Annual Family Reunion of the Borthwick family held on September 2, 1912, at Crystal Lake, the matter of erecting a monument in memory of James borthwick and his wife was discussed, and $34.00 were raised for that purpose. In November, 1912, the remains of James Borthwick were removed from the farm on which he had been buried so many years before, and placed in the cemetery near Union Church on East Hill, town of Broome. (page 49)
