"H. C. Merhoff, the oldest dairyman in Jefferson county, died at 8:40 o'clock last night at his residence on the Ash Bottom road.
Mr. Merhoff had been in failing health for some time, and his death was not unexpected. He was eighty-eight years old, and had been in business at the Churchill place for fifty years. His twin brother, who lived with him, died five years ago.
Mr. H. C. Merhoff leaves a widow and nine children, the oldest son , Christian Merhoff, being sixty-one years of age. A grandson, George Merhoff, is employed at the Western Bank."
