He was born September 18, 1929, in Gallatin to Elsie Scott and Cap Briant. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy. He was a United States Air Force air traffic controller during the Berlin Airlift.
He was with Safeway Associated Grocers and was a regional manager of Piggly Wiggly. In the 1960's he owned a Piggly Wiggly store in Mt. Vernon. He was an entrepreneur who owned many businesses throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife, Molly McCann; one son, Cap Briant III; one sister, Julie Banks; two stepchildren, Ed and Vickie Dougherty; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Todd Briant.
Memorial services were Sunday, June 24. Graveside services will be in Kanehoe, Hawaii.
