Patricia Love Spear, 85 FRANKLIN, Mass. - Patricia Love Spear, 85, passed away peacefully in the loving company of her family at home on July 21, 2014. She was born in Worcester, Mass. on July 30, 1928, to Joseph and Leona Love and grew up as the eldest of four children in the family home in Dudley, Mass. Following high school at the young age of 16, Pat attended Boston University School of Music. Following graduation, Pat moved to South Portland where she was the music instructor for the South Portland school system. There she met her husband of 49 years, the late William Spear. Together they began their married life, raising three loving children and establishing home life in Hampton, NH, Ridgefield, Conn., Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough. She loved music, especially Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, and played many musical instruments - the piano was her favorite. She was a gifted seamstress and quilter. She also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii. Pat was a woman of great faith and left Maine as a devout parish member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough. She will always be remembered as a woman devoted to her family who gave of herself to others. She is predeceased by her husband, William F. Spear, and leaves behind a loving and grateful family including her three children, Suzanne (Spear) Grogan of Franklin, Mass, Janet M. Spear of Franklin, Mass and Timothy P. Spear and his wife Cheryl of St. Petersburg, Fla.; cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Grogan) McDermott and her husband Sean, Patricia Grogan and Christopher Spear; her beloved sisters Ann Blood and Mary Mason and her husband Lawrence Mason Sr.; and her loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph P. Love S.J. Her greatest love was her friends and family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 1, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth.
