S. Van Buren died at the home of his son, Nicholas, at Otley, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 1924, aged 64 years, 7 months and 17 days. His death followed a stroke of apoplexy which he suffered a few days earlier. His death followed that of his wife only eleven weeks. He is survived by three sons. Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed Church in Otley Monday afternoon. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.
