Clarence J. "Bus" Murphy, 91, of Noblesville, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Harbour Manor Health and Living Community, Noblesville.

He was born in Montpelier on January 28, 1923, to Clarence M. Murphy and Lena Evelyn (Shrider) Murphy. Both parents preceded him in death.

Clarence served in the United States Marine Corps.

He played baseball in his youth in Hartford City and in the Marine Corps.

Clarence married Lillian Arrell (Banter) Murphy on December 24, 1944, in Centary United Methodist Church, New Bern, N.C.

He retired in 1985 from Indianapolis Public School System where he had been an educator for 36 years. His last position was in the industrial technology department at Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, where he served as the department chairman in the technology department.

Clarence was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Epsilon Pi Tau, Phi Delta Kappa, Technology Educators of Indiana, Indianapolis Education Association, Indianapolis Association of Administrators, Supervisors and Consultants, Executive Service Corp Volunteer and volunteer at Conner Prairie.

He was awarded many honors during his teaching career including, Indiana Industrial Education Association Meritorious Teach Award in 1966, Indiana Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year in 1981, and honorary and Life Membership Award of Technology Educators of Indiana. He also had served as president of Indiana Industrial Arts Association in 1973.

Clarence will be sadly missed by his wife, Lillian A. Murphy, of Noblesville; son, C. Jay (wife, Connie) Murphy, of Carmel; grandsons, Conner J. Murphy and Cole M. Murphy; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Ota Jane Moody, Maxine June Bowden, Mildred Joan Thornburg and Betty Jean McCormick.

Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 E. Monument St., Noblesville, with Phyllis Hunter officiating.

Visitation to greet the family will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church.

Graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Hartford City Cemetery.

Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to donor's favorite charity.
