Alfonso DeMeo came from Italy to the U.S. with his parents in 1906 when he was 13-years-old. Alfonso married Angeline Palmisano in Buffalo in 1921.

Alfonso & Angeline operated a grocery store on Sherman Avenue in North Collins. They had six daughters and two sons.

When daughter Isabelle and her husband Vincent "Jim" Campise took over the business, the store became known as "Campises." The store, which had become an important part of the North Collins community, closed in the 1980s.
