Born in Germantown, PA, where her 6th great grandfather, Thones Kunders (AKA Dennis Conard), was a founder of the town in 1683. The generations of CONARDS, all in Pennsylvania, were Quakers, as Janet was. Her mother's family, the CHANDLEES, were long-case clockmakers from late 1600's into the 1820's. Her 6th great grandfather, Abel Cottey, Philadelphia, made the first long-case clock in America.

Her siblings: Emily CHANDLEE Conard Vroman (1914-2000), Robert Corse Conard (1915-2007), and Walter Moss Conard, Jr (1920-1995).

The Conard family moved from Germantown about 1922, to Kansas City, then Burlingame, CA, then settled in Fenton, MI, 1927, as her father was a traveling salesman. She graduated from Fenton High School, Fenton, MI, in 1937, met and married Ellwood Ellsworth in Fenton, 26 Mar 1942, in her family home, 108 Pine Street, Fenton. They had 3 daughters, Jayne Irene Ellsworth, Mary Ann, and Margaret Louise. The family lived in Fenton untilmoving to Linden in 1957. She worked at the State Savings Bank in Fenton, and later, in Linden. They were Methodist, then Presbyterian, Janet being a deacon at Linden Presbyterian.ELLSWORTH, Janet Sinclair (Conard)-- Age 93, of Linden, passed away February 9, 2013, at Genesys Convalescent Center, Grand Blanc. Born Aug. 18, 1919, in Germantown, PA, a town of which her sixth great grandfather was a founder in 1683. Her parents Walter M. Conard and Mary Edna (Chandlee), moved to Fenton, MI, in 1927. Janet graduated 1937 from Fenton, marrying Ellwood W. Ellsworth, March 26, 1942, at her Fenton home. He preceded her in death June 13, 1991. She began her career at Fenton State Bank in 1937, and with a break in between to raise her daughters, retired from there in 1974. Janet is a past deacon and member of the Linden Presbyterian Church, the Linden and Fenton Historical Societies, and Eastern Star of Fenton. She had been very active in community and church activities, and enjoyed learning about her family history. Janet was much beloved by many. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Jayne (Douglas) Larion of Grand Blanc, MI, and Charleston, SC, Mary Ann Sheppard, Highland, CA, and Margaret Bresz, Kalamazoo, MI, grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brett) Seavey, Flint, Amy (Mike) Beubis, Pasadena, CA, Stephanie (Jason) Scott, Aurora, IL, PFC Daniel Sheppard, Fort Hood, TX and great grandchildren, Edward Seavey, Brittany Seavey, Noah Beubis and Emma Beubis.
