Lillian R. Alderson, 90, of Evansville, passed away at 1:50 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Golden Living Center Woodlands in Newburgh.
Lillian was born December 11, 1923 in Evansville the daughter of the late William and Anna (Miller) Davis. At 6 months of age she was baptized at Central United Methodist Church and remained there as a life member. She was a 1942 graduate of Central High School and married Raymond H. Alderson in 1946.
She started her working career at the Baby Shop and retired from General Foods in 1980. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post # 1114 and was an active member of the US Sunday School class at Central United Methodist Church for many years. She and Raymond enjoyed traveling, and many hours at their RV at Patoka Lake. Lillian freely volunteered her time and energy in various ways. Her volunteer activities included the St. Anthony Church soup kitchen, the Evansville Food Pantry and the RSVP – Council on Aging. Lillian loved to sew and created clothing for her family as well as for donations.
She is survived by daughter, Connie Long (David) of West Salem, WI; son, Gary Alderson of Evansville; son-in-law, Jeffery Stevenson, formerly from Evansville, now of Owens Cross Roads, AL; grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Alderson, Nicholas Long, Kelly (Stevenson) Pokorny, and Megan (Stevenson) Bayford plus 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond H. Alderson in 1992, her daughter, Karen Stevenson, her brothers, William and Charles Davis and her sister, Armelda Heflin. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Friday, August 1, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville with Pastor Kevin Reed officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
