Dr. O. S. Leedahl was born in 1881 in Leedahl, Sunnmore, Norway and came to the US in 1888 with his parents. He and his family lived at Leonard (Cass Co) ND. He received his M.D. in 1907 from Hamline University (St. Paul). He practiced medicine there for a few years (he was in Palermo in the 1910 census). He practiced in Stanley for many years; he was there for the census in 1920 & 1930. He died in Stanley in 1935.

He was married to Marie Gunther in Palermo in 1910. They adopted Marie's niece Virginia, the daughter of William & Louise (Gunther) Johnson. Virginia went by the name of Leedahl.

In the 1920s he was Chief Medical Examiner for the Sons of Norway in Madison WI.

He was a member of the Stanley Lutheran Church and served on the board of trustees.
