Don was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. He was retired from Mona Shores Schools where he had been employed over 20 years and had previously worked over 20 years at American Coil Springs. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Spring Lake where he had served as an usher. Don enjoyed his tractors, tractor pulling, his motorcycles and making things work.
On April 26, 1975 he married the former Mary Garzelloni and she survives him along with a great-nephew, Craig (Brandy) Jones and special cousin, Ken (Norma) Sherwood.
Don was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Maxine Scott and Dorothy Schuitema and by an infant brother, Robert.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church (406 E. Savidge, Spring Lake, MI 49456) with the Rev. Julian Reginato presiding. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8PM Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema FuneralHomes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI
