HAROLD PERSONS
CHESTER - Harold Persons, 76, died early Monday morning in a Springfield Hospital.
He was born Dec. 6, 1897 in Calais, son of Delbert and Linnie (Tithchout) Persons. He had lived in the Chester area for the past 33 years where he had been employed in the logging industry for most of that time.
He was a former member of the Sons of Union Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Persons; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Smith of Barton; three sisters, Mrs. Abbie McGrath of Chester Depot, Mrs. Francelia Lawrence of North Springfield and Mrs. Shirley Knight of Chester, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home in Chester by the Rev. Phillip Sherman, pastor of the Chester Baptist Church. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
