Elsie V. Blair, 91, of LaPorte, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, at her home.
She was a resident of Deputy until 1993, when she moved to LaPorte. She and her husband were owners of the former Blair Service Station and Grocery in Commiskey. They also owned Blair Fuel Company, serving Jennings, Jefferson, Floyd and Clark Counties in Indiana and Whitesburg, KY. She had been a school teacher in Letcher County, KY for about 18 years. She was a member Extension Homemakers Club in Jefferson County and enjoyed making quilts and afghans.
Born Oct. 2, 1907, in Mayking, KY, she was the daughter of Nelson Robinette and Frances Catherine Spangler Webb. She married Arlie H. Blair, who preceded her in death, Oct. 2, 1973.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Charles E. Blair, LaPorte, grandson, Charles Blair, Deputy, granddaughter, Sherry Flodder; LaPorte, and three great grandchildren, Trevor Charles Blair, Madison, Jonathan Flodder and Matthew Flodder, both of LaPorte.
She is preceded in death by five brothers and four sister.
The Rev. Gary R. Cunningham will conduct a private graveside service at the Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Dove-Sharp and Radical Funeral Home, North Vernon.
Memorials may be given through the funeral home to the American Hear Association.
