Julian P. Langston
Mr. Julian Langston died Sunday, November 19, at age 76 in Bayview Facilities in Beaufort, South Carolina after a lengthy illness.
His remains were cremated at Island Mortuary in Hilton Head Island and his ashes scattered in the Atlantic Oceans.
He was born in Gulfport, Miss. on January 17, 1913 and moved to Minden in 1914. He graduated from Minden High School in 1931. Mr. Langston attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and briefly taught in Dubberly and West Monroe. He was employed as a Border Patrolman along the Mexican Border by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, and was Officer in Charge of an Interment Camp in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He served as Secretary to Congressman Otto E. Passman in Washington, D.C. and later joined the staff of Congressman Omas Curleson at Staff Director of the House Administration Committee. Mr. Langston retired in 1971 and perated the Charter Boat "Fiesta" from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina to Key West, Florida. Because of failing health he retired on Rose Hill Estates near Bluffton, South Carolina.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in England.
Survivors are his widow, Betty Bartl Langston; a daughter, Lia Langston Tatum of Ruston; and a brothers, Robert F. Langston of Minden.
