Martin L. Puckett, one of the best known and most highly respected citizens of Barnhill township, died Friday morning of last week, after an illness of some ten days. Death was caused by strangulated hernia, As the physicians who attended him in his last illness differed as to the cause of his illness, a post mortem examination was held which proved beyond a doubt that his death came as above stated.

Mr. Puckett was a man of great strength of mind and character, there-fore a leader among men, and in the years that have passed there have been few men who have had greater influence in the section in which he lived. He was a Republican in politics, and was a gentleman well versed in all questions of public interest. He leaves a wife and five children - one son and four daughters - to mourn his sudden departure. Short funeral services were held at the family residence Saturday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Barnhill Cemetery.
