Rev. Rederus was an 1880 graduate of Central University in Iowa and an 1884 graduate of Chicago Theological Seminary. He ordained as a Congregational minister in 1887. Later he became a Presbyterian minister and served as a pastor in Woodbury County, Iowa (1891-1892), after which he served in Wisconsin (1893-1902). Then he came back to Iowa to serve as the pastor of the pastor at the Presbyterian Church in Morrison, Iowa (1903-1906).
