Beatrice L. (Bea) Schippers Mishler was born on February 18, 1923 in Melcher. She was the daughter of Arnold and Kate (Bogaard) Schippers. She graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1941. After graduation she worked for the Bellamy Telephone Company in Knoxville until 1947.

She married Larry Mishler on May 9, 1947 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The couple lived their entire married life in Knoxville where they raised their family.

She had worked for Mary Belle Day at Fashion Fabrics for several years, and for Pamida and the V.A. She was very well known in the community as a seamstress. She also enjoyed handiwork, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society, several bridge clubs and the Knoxville Country Club.

Bea died on Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cornelia Beary and Freida Campbell; and one brother Arnold "Skip" Schippers.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jerry Jones of Toledo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Betty of Glenville, Minn. and Bill and Dianna of Solon; brother, Ernest Schippers of Bellevue, Neb.; five grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
