Veteran theatrical man and motion picture exhibitor. He was the first showman to reestablish himself after the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906 and he was the first to adopt the large, luxurious theaters for showing motion pictures. After the earthquake, he raised a tent at Steiner and Post Streets and commenced vaudeville performances. It was so successful he built a theatre around the tent and continued there for 4 years.
