Clifford Allen "Barney" HOPKINS was born in Tobermory on September 12th, 1898, the son of Robert Allen HOPKINS & Frances Ann "Annie" SPEARS. Barney was the oldest of 8 children born to Robert & Annie.
On Jan 17th, 1919, at Brinkman Corners, Ontario, Barney married Clara Isabella BELROSE. They had 5 children: "Harry" (1920), Carl (1922), Kathleen (1923), Minerva (1926), & Barney (1934).
Barney was a well-known fishing guide throughout the area. On the evening of October 25th, 1963, on a trip between Tobermory and Cove Island, he fell and suffered a fatal head injury.
