Lois Laird Gardner
April 10, 1923 - July 23, 2014

Lois Gardner, age 91 of Conyers, died Wednesday, July 23. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Marion Spencer Laird, Sr.; husband, Lewis William Gardner; brother, M. S. Laird, Jr.; and sister, Mary Alice Laird. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Rocky Langford, Griffin; grandchildren, Joe and Destiny Langford and Jack Langford, Griffin, Great Grandson, Jack Andrew Langford, Griffin; sister, Jo Laird Trainer, Conyers; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gardner was a switchboard operator for Southern Bell and later worked for Henson Furniture Company where she met her future husband, Lewis. Mrs. Gardner and her husband were co-owners of Otasco until she retired in 1979. Mrs. Gardner was a charter member of the Rockdale County Historical Society receiving recognition in 2006 for her love and service to Conyers. A clock was installed at the Conyers Depot in her honor. Mrs. Gardner was also a charter member of the Pilot Club, Conyers Chapter and celebrated 50 years as a Pilot Club member. She was a lifelong member of Conyers First United Methodist Church and a member of the Maxwell Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Scot Ward Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rocky Langford officiating; family will receive friends from Friday, July 25, 2014, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Green Meadow chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salem Campground, P.O. Box 243, Conyers, GA 30012.
