Charlotte Leona (nee Whaley) Alexander
AGE: 85 • Hockessin
Charlotte Leona (nee Whaley) Alexander, age 85, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on July 16, 2014 at Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington.
Mrs. Alexander graduated from PS duPont High School (1947) and the University of Delaware (1951). She worked as a chemist prior to becoming a full time mother and homemaker. She enjoyed travel, gardening and watercolor painting and was an avid animal lover.
She was predeceased by her son, Thomas George in 1980. She is survived by her husband, W.S. "Stan" Alexander; sons, Charles (Susan) Alexander of Hockessin and Paul Alexander of Glenrock, WY; daughters, Dorothy Alexander of WY and Amy Alexander of Fort Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (William) White of Haddonfield, NJ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday July 28, 2014 at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 2:15 to 3:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Friends Meeting Cemetery in Hockessin.
No flowers please. Contributions may be made to any animal rescue/support charity.
