Mr. Adams was the second oldest child born to Newport Scott Adams and Rachel Elizabeth Adams. He married Adline Lawrence in Winn Parish on December 23, 1897.

They had three daughters and two sons in Franklin Parish. They moved to West Carroll Parish after the death of their 13-year old daughter, Hester, in 1915.
