Barbara Beatty was born in Maryland, to James Edward Beatty and Elizabeth Raymer. About 1795, the family moved to Fayette County, Kentucky, where they lived at their estate called Masterson Park. Barbara married Daniel M Spurr on 31 Mar (or 01 Apr), 1807, in Fayette County. The Spurrs continued to live at Masterson Park, where they reared their family of eight children: Richard James, Elizabeth Frances, Lydia Beatty, Mary Ann, William Potts, Martha Ann, Daniel Francis, and Beatty Ramer Spurr. Barbara outlived her husband by nearly forty-seven years, dying at 93 of "old age". She was attended at her death by Dr. Spurr, but this could have been either Richard J Spurr or Beatty R Spurr; the two brothers had a medical practice together. Her son Daniel Francis was a lawyer and judge, and William Potts Spurr was a gold hunter and farmer.

The memorial for her daughter, Elizabeth Frances Spurr Delph, says that Barbara Beatty Spurr also had two sons and one daughter from another relationship, but the person who manages the memorial has refused to supply me with information about Barbara's liason. Barbara is my 3rd great grandmother and she bore eight children between 1808 and 1825, so I find it hard to believe that she found time for extra-marital affairs.
