Arthur Erwin Haun, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Reverends Casey Zesch and Percy Smerek officiating.
Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Haun was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Hye, the son of Louis F. Haun and Rosa L. Rech Haun. He married Cecelia L. Burg on Dec. 11, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall and she survives.
After attending the Pleasant Hill School, Haun enlisted in the United States Army on Nov. 12, 1939, at Fort Sam Houston. He then joined the United States Air Force, and after 20 years in the service, retired at Lockbourne AFB, OH, with the rank of master sergeant. He received numerous awards and citations for his service.
Haun was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and prior to joining Bethany Lutheran Church, had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Stonewall.
In addition to his wife, Haun is survived by six children and spouses, including Carolyn and Marvin Grosenbacher of Center Point; Arthur and Kathy Haun Jr. of Fredericksburg; Loyce and John Hoffmann of Colorado Springs, CO; Marie and Farzin Ghafouri of San Diego, CA; William and Jacke Haun of San Antonio, and Jim and Barbara Young of Jackson, MS.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson.
Haun is also survived by a sister, Dorothy, Mrs. Bill Maurer, of Kerrville and the following sisters- and brother-in-law, Delrose Cearley of San Antonio, Laverne Stehling of Kerrville, and J.P. and Darlene Burg of Dallas.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Clemens and Edison Haun; a sister, Lillie, Mrs. Edgar Sultemeier, and two half-sisters, Cora, Mrs. Ben Lindeman, and Nelda, Mrs. Willie Schaefer.
