He graduated From Moss Point High School as Salutatorian of his class in 1939. JJ enjoyed gardening and farming, and was a member of Kreole Ave. Baptist Church.
Mr. Lyons was a veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged from the air force squadron A-9 3502 2D AAF unit. He retired from Brookley Air Force Base and Ingalls Shipbuilding in the Nuclear Submarine Division.
Jay Jay was preceded in death by his parent and wife of 65 years, Virginia Rivers Lyons; brother, Leroy (Hazel) Lyons; sisters, Estelle (Duard) Driver, Jeannie (Ralph) Roberts, Cecilia (Alfred) Hurd, Annie (JC) Bounds; and grandson, John Jefferson Lyons III.
