1935-2014
Cherie Jean Martin, 78, of Emmett, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at home. She was born to Jack Lynn La Fordge and Stella Reynolds in Emmett on November 27, 1935. Cherie attended Stibnite Elementary School and high school in Emmett and New Plymouth. She married Dick Martin on April 27, 1957.
She was employed at the Gem County Courthouse for Ben Downey the assessor and later at the office of Ken Carberry, Superintendent of Schools. She then worked 39 years at Butteview Elementary School as the secretary. She was greatly loved by all the students there. After she retired from the school in 1998 she was an awesome grandma to her 4 grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dick, of 57 years; two children, Corby Martin (Dana) of Gulf Breeze, FL. and Jackie Stritzke (Don) of Caldwell, ID; grandchildren, Chelsea Hammond, Sam Martin, Logan and Hailey Stritzke and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 3:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity .
