Freddie Robert "Fred" Thompson, a resident of Henryetta, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Henryetta, OK at the age of 90. He was born December 29, 1923 in Rome, KS to Jacob Monroe Thompson & Ollie Faye (Jones) Thompson.

He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Dorothy (Drake) on March 10, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. Fred was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Gabriel Matthew Caron, 7 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Freddie is survived by his wife Dorothy Thompson of the home, daughter, Patricia A. Vaughn & husband D.W. "Pat" of Henryetta, daughter, Carolyn C. Cunningham of Henryetta, son, Freddie Robert Thompson, Jr. of Henryetta, and daughter, Gaile E. Stehwein & husband John of Henryetta, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Faye Teeter of Wellington, Kansas, Hazel Young & husband Paul of Meridian, Idaho, Freda Hansen of Washington, Kansas, and Christie White of Wellington, Kansas, one brother, Leslie Thompson of Wellington, Kansas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 12:00pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wellington, Kansas.
