Dr. Francis J. Frank Adams, of Braintree for 41 years, died after a long illness July 20, 2014, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Judith A. Judy (Salemme) Adams, he was the loving father of Brian F. Adams and his wife Karen of Weymouth and Marybeth Adams-Khoury and her husband Paul of Brockton; devoted brother of Ann (Adams) Cawley of Weymouth and the late Mary Driscoll, John, James, Thomas, Edward, Therese and Leo Adams; loving grandfather of Kaitlyn and Patrick Khoury, Colin Adams and the late baby Adam Khoury. Frank was born in Boston and graduated from English High School. He received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Boston State College and received his doctorate in 1968 from Boston University. Over his long career in education Frank worked in the Boston, Weymouth, Scituate and Stoughton school systems. While with Stoughton, he was Director of Curriculum for grades K thru 12. He also taught English Literature at Quincy Junior College for 21 years and Massasoit Community College for 14 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard for a number of years. Frank was a third degree Knight in the Braintree K of C and member of the Mass. Teachers Assoc. He was an Irish Tenor and loved singing as a soloist at St. Francis of Assisi Church of Braintree. He loved and was loved by his wife Judy for 42 years. The family would like to extend their gratefulness to all the staff at Hancock Park Alzheimer's Unit. Reposing at the Cartwright Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, until 11:15 a.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral Mass at 12 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association of Mass., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
