Maude and Carl are the parents of three daughters:
Madeline Wanita b. October 28, 1915 d. June 3, 1921
Caroline Genevra b. April 10, 1918 d. June 3, 1921
Doris Maxine b. September 14, 1920 d. June 3, 1921
According to cemetery records Maude, Madeline, Caroline and Doris all died during an epidemic in 1921.

Sterling, Colorado June 3, 1921 Mrs. Carl Davis of Willard and her baby were swept to their death in a flood which raged down the valley of Pawnee Creek, Northwest of here this morning. The waters inundated acres of farmland and washed-out railroad tracks and bridges. The entire city of Sterling is threatened. The other 2 children of Mrs. Davis are missing and it is feared they have perished in the torrent. The bodies of Mrs. Davis and her baby were found this morning. Carl Davis, the father is in a hospital here in critical condition. The Davis home was swept from it's foundation and partially demolished by the flood. Searchers are hunting for the other children. Warned by ditch riders of the breaking of the spillway dam of the north Sterling Reservoir. Russian families of beet farms in the vicinity fled from their homes during the night. Hundreds were marooned during the early hours of the day on high ground, and were rescued by search parties from here.

Carl was born on May 18, 1888 in Monmouth, Warren, Illinois and died on April 30, 1947 in Alamogordo, Otero, New Mexico.
