Funeral services for Arthur Douglas Yates, 83, of Lamesa will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Brother Gary Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Doug passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born July 6, 1931 in Lamesa to Jim Arthur and Sussie Mae (Sharp) Yates. Doug married Janelle West March 24, 1952 in Lamesa, Texas; they were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death June 27, 2014. Doug served in the United States Navy during the Korean War where he earned a Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Doug was a member of Second Baptist Church. He worked as a welder and a ginner. Doug is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jim Claude Yates .
