She was born on Friday, August 1, 1919, in Carlyle, IL, the daughter of Fred W. and Louisa (nee Steffen) Wiese. On Saturday, August 07, 1937, she married Lester John Ammann who passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Laverna was born in Carlyle, IL, and lived with her Aunt Louise, after her Mother's death. At age 13 she moved to Jamestown, IL, where she helped the Emil Foehner family and then the Tony Gnaedinger family with household chores. She moved to Highland and worked at Florence's Beauty Shop, Tschannen 5 & 10 cent store (for 10 years), Ziegler Jewelry Store , and Super Value Bakery (for 10 years).
