John "Jack" Mitchell Gay, 76, husband of Ruth (Kraby) Gay, formerly of Decorah, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at their home in Sparks, N.Y. after a brief illness, with his family by his side.

Memorials to the Lord of Mercy Lutheran Church or St. Mary's Hospice, 235 W. 6th Street, Reno, Nev., 89503 are being requested in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements were handled by John Sparks Memorial.

John Gay was born May 7, 1927 in Portland, Ore., to William and Virginia Gay.

He attended schools in Oregon and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S Lexington.

He retired from Montgomery Ward after 37 years.
