Curtis was a schoolmate and lived in my neighborhood. He died at the young age of 12 because he and another boy were playing with gasoline. Curt threw a cup of gas on an open fire which flashed back and severely burned him. Curt lived two days but succumbed to his injuries. He was survived by his parents and a twin sister Edith. I came across Curt's grave recently while doing family research. His grave is neglected and the flower urn is missing (probably theft). I felt compelled to write this because Curt should not be forgotten. I will do more searching and add to this memorial. If anyone else has something to add please contact me. If you came and viewed Curt's story but have nothing to add please leave a flower to remember him by.

A Sugar Grove man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing bronze vases from an Aurora cemetery.
Suspect #1, 36, pleaded guilty to his part in the crime, which included the theft of more than 100 bronze vases from Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on the 700 block of Route 30.
Kendall County deputies were conducting surveillance of Suspect #1 and Suspect #2, 30, of Oswego. The men were tracked to a Cook County cemetery in September 2013. The men were caught in the act of robbing graves there and taken into custody, Chicago police officials said. They were subsequently charged for that crime and also the Aurora thefts.
The men first became suspects in the theft and sale of more than 100 bronze vases, worth $500 a piece, from Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Aurora after a witness described seeing them acting suspiciously at the cemetery on Aug. 28, 2013.
