Johnny E. Welch, 72, of Leesburg, Florida, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was born November 22, 1941 in Boissevain, Virginia. Mr. Welch served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, where he received numerous honors and a Masters Degree. After retiring in 1980, Johnny was employed by Lockheed-Martin in Sunnyvale, California. He resided in Sunnyvale for 16 years before being transferred to Cape Canaveral, Florida. He retired in 2001. Johnny loved hiking, camping, woodworking and enjoyed watching sports and westerns. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Rose Welch of Leesburg, FL; daughter Kathi Smith of Fruitland Park, Fl. 2 brothers: Frank JR (Shirley) Welch and Robert (Patsy) Welch; 2 sisters: Nancy Parton and Brenda Triplet; 3 grandchildren Megan Welch, Justin Roetken, and Kyle Smith. Johnny, was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Welch Jr, in 2008. Visitation will be Friday, July 25, from 10:30 to 11:00am with services following at 11:00am at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Wilson officiating. Interment will be at 2:00pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
