Passed away after a brief illness in her ninety first year. She was born on her father's homestead, southwest quarter section 2, Township 45, Range 27 west of the fourth meridian, the fifth child of Carl and Lydia (Henkel) Tabler's nine children. The family moved to a farm near Forestburg later that year and again to another farm near Galahad, Alberta where Cecille started school. The family moved yet again in 1925 to Alliance, Alberta where Cecille spent the remainder of her childhood. Cecille left home in 1934 at the height of the depression and worked in Edmonton as a waitress at two or three restaurants simultaneously. In 1943 Cecille bought and ran her own restaurant called "Peter Pan" which she operated for a couple of years. In addition to acquiring rental property, she also bought and sold houses in Edmonton. She became a hair stylist in the late 1940s in Edmonton. She then moved to Provost where she opened her first hair salon. She subsequently opened hair salons in Wainwright, Lloydminster and Daysland. Cecille moved to Camrose in the early 1950s where she opened a beauty salon in the basement of the Camrose Hotel. At the height of her business, in the early 1960s, she owned and operated all the beauty salons in Camrose. Cecille was an assiduous worker and an exceptionally successful business woman during a time when single women were just beginning to break the traditional mould. Family was very important to Cecille. She was very close to her parents and eight siblings. She would drive seventy miles each weekend in her little Volkswagen Beatle on mostly gravel roads to help her parents on the farm at Alliance. She loved farming, she began working with horses and then as times progressed, drove combine. She would do whatever needed to be done. Although she was always working, she always had time for people, especially those who were down on their luck for one reason or another. She was a very generous, warm person with a keen sense of humour and given to fits of practical jokes. In 1967, Cecille began building her dream house, putting great love and detail into her house on 19 Grand Park Crescent, Camrose. Her landscaping came to be appreciated by many and she finally was given recognition for her efforts by the naming of the Cecille Tabler Reserve on Grand Park Crescent. Although most people would have retired by the time they were in their late eighties, Cecille was still styling hair for her long-time clients at her home until she moved to an apartment at Deer Meadows. Cecille was predeceased by her sisters Helen Bakken in 1976, Harriet Bergersen in 1982 and her brother Samuel Tabler in 1984. Cecille is lovingly remembered by sister Caroline Kjelland, sister Edith (Michael) Ruptash, brother Carl (Darlene) Tabler, brother Fredrick (Violet) Tabler, brother Joseph (Inez) Tabler and numerous nieces and nephews. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Visitation at Century Meadows Baptist Church, 3720 - 66th Street, Camrose, Alberta from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008. The Funeral Service will be held at Century Meadows Baptist Church, 3720 - 66th Street, Camrose, Alberta at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the City of Camrose Cemetery.
